The family and I got back late Thursday from a vacation to Door County, WI. It was great to get away, as we rarely do . We a te lots of food, saw lots of pretty things, did a lot of swimming at the hotel pool, saw our first movie at a drive-in theater, did about 550 miles of A-B traveling, plus another 300 miles of random meandering and exploring. The Grand Marquis I borrowed from my buddy performed flawlessly. My wife was impressed by how comfortable it was. I completely blew the budget, because I forgot how expensive food is up there, but oh well. It was worth it.  Kids were happy, wife was happy, all is well.

Sounds like you guys had a great time! Door County is always a great choice! I haven’t been up there in probably 10 years, but I still remember the trip— such a pretty area.

I’d love to go back soon, but it’s looking unlikely that I’ll get up to any lakes much  at all this summer. T his summer is turning out to be much busier than I expected, but such is life I guess! Glad I can live vicariously through you haha!

Those low key vacations are the best, even if they drain the pocket book like a big time vacation.

Nice.

I’ ve ten nights off after this Friday, just going to chill. Booked a week off next month also.

Just need to use up my holiday entitlement.

Yeah, it was fantastic.  As vacations go, it was still relatively cheap.  Just not as cheap as I was planning.

When I was younger we would vacation in Door County for the annual pumpkin fest and fish fry. Awesome memories. I need to go back. Its been 20 or so years now.

I don’t go anywhere, I simply don’t go to work. Lol.

My family never really went anywhere, or did anything. My parents were both self-employed, so it’s hard to get away) . My wife and I s tarted coming here after we got married. We try to go about every other year. I want my kids to have memories and traditions that I never really got as a kid.

Carol and J-Bird left for Door County Thursay afternoon. There have been promises of wine, pie filling, and raspberry syrup when they arrive home this evening.
